In an official notice dated 29 October 2026, Maersk announced a rate increase for shipments from the Far East to North Europe and the Mediterranean, effective 16 November 2026.
What does the notice cover?
The announcement concerns the named trade lanes. Its public text does not give an increase amount or a detailed rate table, so it cannot be used as a single rate for every port and shipment.
Booking considerations
Farvahar’s editorial recommendation for cargo using these lanes is to recheck the quotation before booking:
- Confirm origin, destination, container type and the quoted scope of services.
- Ask the service provider about rate validity and the basis for applying the revised rate.
- Compare ocean freight, local charges and other items separately.
- Reconfirm the sailing schedule and cargo and documentation cut-offs.
Relevance for trade involving Iran
This notice alone does not establish an increase in rates to Iran, a direct Iran service or guaranteed cargo acceptance. A feasible route and the conditions of each quotation require a separate shipment-specific review.
